The Lectric XPress 750 Torque Sensor Ebike (The Perfect Commuter)

1310 watts of peak power, torque sensor, and a 28mph top speed? These features are just the beginning of what makes the Lectric Xpress 750 the perfect commuter ebike.

I’m Lisa at Ebiking Today and during my Lectric XPress review and test ride, I noticed several standout features that set this bike apart as a top commuter. Stay with me to get my list of pros and cons. Learn everything you need to know before you buy and discover who this is the best electric bike for.

Honestly, I think you’ll be surprised at everything you get at an affordable price. Finally, I’ll tell you how to save an additional $300 on the XPress!

Pros

Quick Release Pedals

One of the first things I got excited about was how easily the pedals were removed. This made it easier for the bike to fit in small spaces. Also, the pedals were heavy-duty and the spikes seriously gripped my feet so there was no slipping.

Amazing Power

With a 750W motor and peak power of 1310W, I felt a noticeable difference in acceleration at each pedal assist level and using the throttle, especially when moving quickly from a standstill. The 85 Newton meters of torque provided more than enough power to handle hills with ease.

Whether I was cruising on flat roads or tackling steeper inclines, the bike offered just the right amount of support to keep the ride enjoyable without feeling like I was exerting too much effort. I liked that the ergonomic thumb throttle was perfectly positioned to engage smoothly.

Lectric PWR+™ and PAS Torque Sensor System

This unique pedal assist system is the biggest advantage of the Lectric XPress 750 and made a huge difference over a typical cadence sensor ebike. Lectric has its own technology called Pedal Assist Wattage Regulation. This ensured that the Xpress responded to how hard I was pedaling, delivering power efficiently without feeling jerky or inconsistent. It felt like a natural extension of my movement, especially when I wanted to go faster but keep in control.

Swept-back Handlebars and Adjustable Stem

Many ebikes at this price don’t have these features, so these are an advantage. The swept-back handlebars with ergonomic grips are ultra-comfortable. The stem easily adjusts from a road bike geometry to an upright cruiser position. So, you can ride how you want and easily switch to another handlebar setup for a different ride.

UL Certified Electric Bike and Battery

The Lectric XPress is certified to UL 2849. Additionally, the XPress comes with a lithium-ion battery certified to UL 2271. This improves my confidence in its safety because I know both the bike and battery have been rigorously tested.

Price

The cool XPress 750 retails at $1605, but you’ll be happy to know it’s selling for only $1299. Yes, that’s an amazing deal considering its power and features, especially the unique torque sensor.

Here are several more reasons this ebike is such a good deal.

Suspension Fork with Preload and Lockout

One of the key components that added to my comfort during the test ride was the adjustable suspension fork. It absorbed bumps and dips, and with up to 80mm of travel, the bike felt stable and cushioned. I turned the red lockout knob counterclockwise to unlock the suspension and then turned the preload knob counterclockwise to reduce stiffness.

Commuter Bike Tires

I was also impressed by the 27.5” x 2.1” city tires. I love that they came pre-installed with Slime. This gave me some peace of mind, having had flat tires ruin my rides before. The tires also handled different road surfaces beautifully, offering a smooth ride without road noise or resistance.

Hydraulic Mineral Oil brakes

The 180mm brakes offered precise stopping power in dry conditions, which kept me feeling safe. These brakes are known for offering the ultimate stopping power even in wet conditions.

Okay, the affordable Lectric XPress electric bike has some other advantages. These include smooth-shifting 7-speed Shimano gears, one-touch cruise control, an easy-to-see color LCD display, and an integrated headlight and taillight. The lights were a nice surprise, considering that some electric bikes at this price point leave them off.

Even with so many amazing features, there are a few cons.

Cons

Lack of Fenders and Rear Rack.

Hey, it’s a commuter e-bike, so riders may go long distances through puddles and road debris. A rack would allow lunch bags, books, or supplies to be easily carried. Of course, you’re getting the Lectric XPress for an amazing price. So if you need a rack or fenders, you can get them at a reasonable price directly from Lectric.

Additionally, I do wish the rear light was connected to the brakes.

Pedal Assist Linked Throttle

Here’s another preference. I want the throttle to give me full power at all times… to get started up hills or ride quickly through intersections. On pedal assist levels 1 and 2, the throttle only took me to around 8 mph or 15 mph respectively. The throttle doesn’t work at all on zero, without the pedal assist turned on. However, it did speed me up to 20 mph on levels 3,4, and 5 in a few seconds.

Lectric’s Stealth Motor: Quiet?

The last con is that the 750W motor was a little louder than I expected given Lectric’s upgrade to what they call “Stealth M24 technology”. The noise was noticeable on the higher assist levels and when I pedaled harder. I was hopeful for a quiet motor but some noise is typical of a powerful ebike priced under $1300.

What You Need to Know Before You Buy

Size and Fit

Suggested rider height is 5’2” to 6’3”. I’m 5’1” and fit comfortably but check your inseam measurements against the minimum 33” standard seat height. Also, note that the optional giant saddle with suspension seatpost puts the minimum height around 3 inches higher.

Weight and Payload

The XPress weighs in at 58lbs which is fairly typical for a commuter ebike without a rear rack or fenders. And the maximum payload capacity is 330 lbs.

Fast Assembly

I was happy to discover that the Lectric Xpress 750 was a simple, tool-free assembly. The front tire sported a quick-release thru axle and the stem was already assembled. So it was really all about popping on the quick-attach pedals and adding the freebies included with purchase or other accessories.

XPress E-Bike Versions

You should also know it comes in a white step-thru frame or a black high-step. Additionally, you can save $300 by choosing the XPress 500-watt version offering a range of 45 miles and 55 newton meters of torque.

Unlocking the Maximum Speed Limit

One more thing to know… the XPress comes locked at a maximum speed of 20mph. Here’s how to increase the bike’s max pedal assist (PAS) speed from 20 to 28mph:

1. Press and hold the plus (+) and minus (-) buttons on the control pad simultaneously until the screen says “P1”.

2. Press the button on the control pad to cycle through the settings.

3. Go to setting “P08” and change this value from 32 to 45.

4. Press and hold the plus (+) and the minus (-) buttons on the control pad to exit Settings Menu.

5. To save this setting, turn off the bicycle by holding the power button.

Please note: Your maximum achievable top speed will depend on tire pressure, road conditions, total payload, and battery charge level.

Who is The Lectric XPress 750 Perfect For?

This electric bicycle is best for you if you’re a commuter or leisure rider wanting power, speed, and a battery range that’ll get you from point A to point B, no sweat.
